PRODUCT OVERVIEW:

The Balance Series Edge-Lit Exit provides a progressive, thin, compact design that is complementary to upscale architectural spaces. This premium exit sign is ideal for commercial or retail architectural designs, while offering energy efficient power consumption. The BSE Series features universal infield applicable chevron arrows. The BSE Series is available in single and double face models. Operates using either 120 or 277v AC power. Nickel-Cadmium battery backup option provides a minimum 90 minutes of emergency operation. The BSE Series with battery backup comes with a LED indicated push-to-test button. Options include: dual circuit, audible alarm, and visual alarm. The simplified universal installation process, for both T-Bar and drywall, makes the Balanced Series Edge-Lit Exit both a specification product and electrical contractor favorite.

CONSTRUCTION:

Impact resistant, UL 94 V-0, 5 VA thermoplastic housing/backbox can be used for both recessed and surface mount applications. White housing is standard, with an optional black housing. The Balance Series Edge-Lit Exit stencil panel includes customer-installable NFPA-type directional chevrons, and is manufactured from high impact clear acrylic and silk-screened computer generated artwork. All artwork meets UL and NFPA standards for exit signage. All models are supplied with white and mirrored inserts to complement the standard clear panel.

ILLUMINATION:

Illumination of the Balance Series tapered exit panel is accomplished with the use of high output LEDs offering even illumination. LEDs require little maintenance and have a long life, between 8-10 years.

Letter Size: 6” letters with 3/4” stroke
Directional Indicators: Infield applicable chevron arrows sized to meet UL visibility requirements.

BATTERY TECHNOLOGY:

Supplied standard with a maintenance free, sealed nickel cadmium battery. Battery is equipped with a quick connect plug for easy installation. The Balance Series Edge-Lit Exit battery backup system will provide a full 90 minutes of illumination at full output. Suggested operating temperature range of 20°F to 95°F or -7°C to 35°C. Battery service life at optimum operating temperature of 72°F or 22°C is estimated at 10 years.

Load Transfer: surge-protected, solid-state charging circuitry provides for a reliable charging system. The transfer circuitry can be tested via a momentary test switch located on the housing.
Recharge Duty Cycle: Battery recharge time after full discharge is less than the required UL 924 standard.
Operating Temperature: Optimal range of 20°F to 95°F or -7°C or 35°C
Safety Circuitry: AC Lockout: Prevents battery discharge prior to initial unit power-up saving installation time.
Low Voltage Battery Disconnect: Brownout protection circuitry will automatically switch the unit into the emergency mode if the utility voltage sags below 20% of nominal. Line sensitive electronics cause an instantaneous transfer to battery power if utility power is lost, or a brownout condition is detected.

The Balance Series meets or exceeds all performance standards as required by UL 924, NFPA 101, NEC, BOCA, OSHA and IBC.
